Jesus in the Old Testament
I am sure many of you familiar with the story that happened in Genesis 4 which is about 2 brothers, Cain (the older brother) and Abel (the younger brother). Long story short, Cain ended up killing his brother Abel because the LORD did not look his offering with favour. I hope this story will bless you as it has blessed me so much.
So here what I want to do, let’s change the name Cain with Israel and the name Able with Jesus. Before you get excited (I am sure you will) – just want to encourage you to always look for Jesus in the Bible because it will make your Bible reading more exciting! I love it… anyhow. Stay blessed
Genesis 4
Israel and Jesus
1 Adam [a] lay with his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Israel. [b] She said, “With the help of the LORD I have brought forth [c] a man.” 2 Later she gave birth to his brother Jesus.
Now Jesus kept flocks, and Israel worked the soil. 3 In the course of time Israel brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the LORD. 4 But Jesus brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The LORD looked with favor on Jesus and his offering, 5 but on Israel and his offering he did not look with favor. So Israel was very angry, and his face was downcast.
6 Then the LORD said to Israel, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.”
8 Now Israel said to his brother Jesus, “Let’s go out to the field.” [d] And while they were in the field, Israel attacked his brother Jesus and killed him.
9 Then the LORD said to Israel, “Where is your brother Jesus?”
“I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?”
10 The LORD said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground. 11 Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. 12 When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth.”
13 Israel said to the LORD, “My punishment is more than I can bear. 14 Today you are driving me from the land, and I will be hidden from your presence; I will be a restless wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.”
15 But the LORD said to him, “Not so [e] ; if anyone kills Israel, he will suffer vengeance seven times over.” Then the LORD put a mark on Israel so that no one who found him would kill him. 16 So Israel went out from the LORD’s presence and lived in the land of Nod, [f] east of Eden.
Shalom

This is really dangerous ground on which you tread, as it’s not man’s place to manipulate God’s word.
- Firstly, Jesus was never second to Israel
- Even after Jesus’ death and resurrection, God never sent Israel from Him. God used Israel’s action for their salvation. By what you suggest here, you say that their salvation was a curse.
Really where you’ve gone here is to pollute the pure Word with an interpretation that is wrong in so many directions. A new believer could be very mislead by the lies you speak here.

Hi Luke
thanks for the comment,
I personally do not think that I am manipulating God’s Word here.
I love Jesus and I think it is so beautiful to see Jesus in the Old Testament
I never said that Jesus was second to Israel. But Genesis 4 is a picture how Israel tried and tried and tried with their power to get God’s blessings but instead their offering is not perfect (men’s offerings would never be perfect) therefore Jesus came…
I am here boasting His perfect works and offerings to Our Father
Secondly, you said God never sent Israel form Him (are you sure?) – the 12 tribes are scattered all over the world….and in 1947 God brought them back and made the nation of Israel. I am not saying God does not love them… They are always and still the apple of His eye… the same like us gentiles because we are in Christ.
Their salvation was a curse? please re-explain … I dont really get what you mean. I dont think the verses say that their salvation was a curse? It is so clear that God is still with Israel and it shows how He loves them… please read verse 15 and so forth. God said “if anyone kills Cain/Israel, he will suffer 7 times.” Is this not beautiful – How God still loves them and wants to protect them from their enemy?
The truth of the fact is that…. Jesus was killed by the Israelites … or Am I mistaken here?
It was the pharisess and those religious leaders that wanted Jesus to be crucified? were they not Israelites?
anyways… I am not trying to twist the Word of God or anything….
The Old Testament is a shadow of things to come…
I do love learning the Bible.. and yes I stand for what I wrote. I dont think Im hindering the new believers to grow in their faith.
God bless.
